Spider-Man 3

D & I went and saw Spider-Man 3 tonight. Not having seen the previous 2 episodes, I really didn't have much expectation. Contrarary to what I thought, watching the movie was quite an emotional experience. I think Spider-Man 3 is very thought-provoking. In addition to being an action-packed movie, it explores human being's vulnerability to sin, importance of resisting to sin, and responsibility to help others from sin's web. Apart from the themes of adventures, secrets, vengeance and love, I found the elements of friendship and forgiveness very touching as well. For me personally, one of the most essential messages from the film is that we can't escape the dark web of sin.

The Spiderman movies are pretty deep for comic book adaptations. You'll find the same themes and story threads in the first two movies, so seeing them will help you make sense of Spiderman 3.

Hi Ross, pardon my ignorance, but I am starting to realise that comic book contents can be deep too! Yes I'd surely like to see the first two movies as well. In fact, D is going to hire the Pirates of Caribbeans 1 & 2 for me to watch before we go to see the third one....wanna join us mate?

my mate went to see this film the other night and summarized it in this neat catch phrase: "Peter Parker Goes Emo" ;-)

Hi James, wow "Peter Parker Goes Emo" is certainly a meaningful and funny summary of the film hehe...

I don't know if you've seen the first, second or fifth Superman movies (don't bother seeing 3 or 4; they're not very good), but there's varying amounts of Judaeo-Christian symbolism in these films, especially in the first hour of the first film.
