Chasing God (3)

Why do humans believe in a Higher Power? This is such a great question.

Without a doubt, the concept of God has been in human beings' heart for centuries. The subject is one of the most hotly contested debate, disagreement, and wars. In this day and age when human beings are at war with each other, ready to unleash devastating weapons that can wipe out entire countries. Violence is being mooted as a solution to peace and protection, and many people feel powerless to influence outcomes. Thousands and millions attempt for divine intervention. It has always been true that when we human beings are afraid or in pain we reach out for a power greater than our own. Perhaps never before in the history of the world has the sound of God's name been so loudly heard from people of all cultures and religions at the same time. Beliefs about God have divided humanity.

So what are your own beliefs about God?

You know how the US Declaration of Independence was written? It seems Thomas Jefferson's youngest son dumped a box of wooden letterblocks out on the floor and there it was -- perfectly spelled and punctuated.

You don't believe that? Well, rational people shouldn't. And it would be just as irrational to believe that something as infinitely complex, and infinitely large as the universe could just fall together perfectly down to the tiniest subatomic particle through some random Big Bang.

There is a logic in believing in God. And if there were no God, would people be searching for Him? If there were no birds, would people have longed to fly? If their were no fish, would people have wanted to swim underwater? Again, there is a logic in believing in God. Too many people just shut off their brain when the subject turns to God. God exists, it's just our job to find Him. And by thinking, we can pretty easily separate the nutty religions from the one true religion.

Just a few thoughts:
God has set eternity in the hearts of men. Ecclesiastes 3:11.

C.S. Lewis who wrote the Narnia stories, has the character who represents Jesus say, "You would not have called to me unless I had been calling to you".

Jesus is the radiance of God's glory and the EXACT representation of His being. Hebrews 1:3

Jesus said, Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. John 14:9

I think other religions are attempts to get our focus off Jesus.
