Wonderings About Luke 5:1-11

I'm wondering:

Verse 1: what people had heard about Jesus that made them want to come and hear Jesus teach, and what God's message is? What would Jesus tell people?

Verse 2: how hard nets are to wash? if the fisherman enjoyed themselves?

Verse 3: what Peter was listening to and what he thought about that?

Verse 4: what goes through Simon's mind when he heard Jesus asking him to row the boat out into the deep water....what goes through your mind when you heard Jesus speaking here? I was very challenged by Jesus here, what about you?

Verse 5: what makes you too tired as to make you start complaining even before you realise who it is you're complaining to?

Verse 6: what rips your nets?

Verse 7: if you ever ask for help?

Verse 8: how it feels to know the truth about yourself and to know its wrong and to be guilty?

Verse 9:how surprised you would be to see a miracle, the power of God at work in your life?

Verse 10: what the oppsite of fear is?

Verse 11:what it means to leave everything to go with Jesus?

Tell me what your answers are to these wonderings if you like.

Wow Kitty, you sure had a lot of wonderings here.
Ok, here are my considerations on it:
1: They heard He and His words were different from anything they had heard before. They prolly heard He was inspiring.
God's message to the people (my opinion) was hope for life and Jesus would tell them how to get that life.

2: I have no clue, I never washed a net. As for the fishermen, I think for them it was more a routine, something that was part of the job.

3: I think Peter was listening to Jesus as well and was as captured by what he heard as the multitudes.

4: This sounds like a "pride" thing to me. I would, just like Peter, tell Jesus I had already been there and there was nothing. Ok, You want to go there and find out Yourself. There is nothing there. Told You so! But hey, fine with me.
I would prolly be a bit apprehensive about rowing out again for something I already knew would be in vain.

5: Hopelessness because of great discouragement.

6: Each time I think about how much God loves me to sacrifice His Son so I will have eternal life! Wow.

7: Pride wouldn't let me, but I do now more and more.

8: Both awful and glad. Awful because of the after-the-fact-guilt, but glad because I know and can do something about it. Repentance!:-)

9: I am surprised each day by His blessings, which are all miracles to me.

10: Faith.

11: Life.

These are my opinions and thoughts. I sure would like to hear yours, hehe.

Have a great weekend, dear sister!

God's Grace.

Great "wonderings". IMO you've been blessed with a gift for gleaning every thought from the scripture without overworking the analogy. ;-)

Thanks Kc...those were my imaginations I suppose :) What does IMO mean by the way? b

Wonderful questions. I am pretty tired right now to give much of an answer. However, I would not be surprised to see God work a miracle in my life, but I probably would be surprised at what He specifically chose to do. As far as Jesus calling us into deeper water, my early years as a Christian I felt like Jesus persuaded me into the deep water and a storm came up and He just let me stir around the storm for a good many years, just to wear me out of me trying with my own efforts until eventually I realized that I just needed to relax. Jesus has it all under control, even if it doesn't look that way. How it looks isn't how it IS. Jesus controls the sea, the winds, the waves and all of me that I let Him have. Jesus, take all of me.

IMO = in my opinion and IMHO = in my humble opinion. ;-)

Hi Andrea,it's so true that how it looks is't how it IS! I've experienced that time and time again too. Yes I pray for Jesus to take all of me too :)

Hehe Jayne,i agree that leaving everything to go with Jesus seems hard on the surface, but it's the best choice we can ever make.
